Venice film festival to feature 2 Iranian films

Two Iranian documentaries are to be screened at Venice Classics section of the Venice Film Festival in Italy.

Two Iranian documentaries have been selected to be screened at the Venice Classics section of the 2019 Venice Film Festival in Italy.

The lineup of the Venice Classics section includes a newly restored version of Forough Farrokhzad’s ‘The House is Black’ which was originally released in 1962.

The film is about Farrokhzad’s visit paid to Baba Baghi leprosy sanatorium in the Iranian city of Tabriz.

The festival will also screen ‘The Hills of Marlik’ by Ebrahim Golestan, which was released in 1964, among other newly restored classics from several countries.

The short documentary is about Marlik’s hills and the archaeological discoveries in the area.

But it is also about life, art, and the hope for a better tomorrow.

The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world.

The gala is one of the "Big Three" film festivals, alongside the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival.

The upcoming edition of the Venice Film Festival will be held on August 28-Septemer 7, 2019.
